Our Volunteers
"Meeting the patients enriches me as a human being. I feel as though I’ve discovered a whole new world. Thanks to the center, I am experiencing significant professional growth as a therapist."
(Ilana, volunteer therapist at the Holistic Support Center)
The activities of the Yuri Shtern Holistic Center are made possible thanks to approximately 180 volunteer therapists who contribute their energy, time, experience, and knowledge to support cancer patients and victims of national trauma.
The volunteers -all of whom are certified and qualified therapists -undergo a unique 55-hour training course. Upon completion, they receive a professional certificate from the Yuri Shtern Center and begin their integration into therapeutic volunteering at one of our locations: the Shaare Zedek Medical Center or our community clinics in Jerusalem and Herzliya.
Volunteering consists of a weekly shift at a fixed time and location, including two and a half hours of clinical work followed by 45 minutes of supervision and guidance. Throughout their tenure, the Yuri Shtern Center’s professional team supports the therapists with ongoing training, workshops, supervision, events, and personal mentorship as needed.
Our volunteer community is vibrant and professional, providing a fertile ground for sharing, learning, and significant professional growth across various therapeutic fields - all alongside the profound sense of meaning that comes from giving and caring for our patients.
